We are now seeking an exceptional Academic Director – Learning & Teaching to lead academic excellence across the College and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our educational offer.
The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership role with institution-wide impact. As Academic Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for learning, teaching and assessment, ensuring an outstanding academic experience for all students.
You will champion a student-centred, inclusive approach, supporting a diverse student body—including widening participation and mature learners—to succeed and thrive. Working closely with the Executive Dean, Deans and academic teams, you will drive innovation in pedagogy, embed best practice, and ensure the College meets and exceeds regulatory expectations.
You will also contribute to key institutional priorities, including OfS registration, progress toward Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP), and the continued growth and evolution of our academic portfolio.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Leading and enhancing teaching, learning and assessment across the College
Driving academic quality and ensuring compliance with regulatory and awarding body requirements
Supporting, developing and inspiring academic staff, including Adjunct Faculty
Embedding innovative, inclusive and industry-engaged teaching practices
Leading the adoption of new educational technologies and pedagogical approaches
Partnering with senior academic leaders on curriculum development and academic strategy
Enhancing the student experience across the full lifecycle, from enrolment to alumni
Building a strong academic community that promotes collaboration, scholarship and continuous improvement
Supporting institutional growth and key strategic milestones
What We’re Looking For
You are an experienced and inspiring academic leader with a passion for teaching excellence and student success.
You will bring:
A postgraduate qualification (or higher) in a relevant discipline or higher education
Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), with Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) desirable
Significant experience enhancing teaching quality and assessment in higher education
A strong track record of leading and developing academic teams
Experience building capability in diverse or growing academic staff groups
A strong understanding of UK higher education quality frameworks, including OfS requirements
The ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational delivery

A confident communicator who can influence and build strong relationships
