We are now seeking an inspiring and highly organised Programme Lead / Course Director for Hospitality Management—a pivotal role that shapes teaching excellence, student experience and the academic direction of this dynamic and fast-evolving subject area.
The Role
As Programme Lead / Course Director, you will oversee the full lifecycle of the Hospitality Management programme, ensuring high-quality delivery, an up-to-date curriculum and a learning experience that equips students for success in a global industry. You will lead a team of academic staff, manage programme performance, and drive the development of innovative teaching, assessment and curriculum design. You’ll also engage with industry partners to keep the programme relevant, aspirational and aligned to real-world expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Leadership & Quality
Lead the day-to-day management, performance and quality assurance of the Hospitality Management course.
Oversee teaching, assessments, curriculum planning and academic administration.
Monitor programme metrics and student feedback, taking proactive steps to enhance outcomes.
Prepare and lead course team meetings, committee meetings and examination boards.
Produce annual course monitoring reports and ensure continuous improvement.
Curriculum Development
Lead curriculum development, validation and review activities.
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary learning and innovative teaching strategies.
Teaching, Learning & Assessment
Manage teaching and assessment across delivery modes.
Implement teaching, learning and digital strategies at programme level.
Maintain accurate student progress records and provide appropriate feedback.
People & Student Management
Lead and support academic staff and contribute to professional development.
Support student engagement, retention and progression.
Oversee recruitment, admissions, induction and timetabling.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Skills
Relevant BA degree and postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
Understanding of teaching, assessment and feedback practices.
Ability to lead, motivate and collaborate effectively.
Experience designing and delivering degree-level curriculum.
Strong communication skills and student-centred values.
Desirable
PhD or higher-level research qualification.
Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one).
Professional networks within the hospitality industry.
Experience
Experience teaching in Higher Education, especially with widening participation students.
Experience leading academic programmes and managing curriculum, quality and standards.
Evidence of research, knowledge exchange or professional practice relevant to hospitality/business.
Experience managing sensitive matters in line with policy.
